Actor Scott Cann's 1951 Powerplant Panhead Bobber The Choppers that Yaniv Evan builds are one of a kind, hand crafted and very Unique, His store Powerplant Choppers is located in trendy West Hollywood on the corner of Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, right across from the legendary Troubaduor Music Club, right in the crosshairs to movie star and rock 'n' roll royalty. He may only have some ten years experience building and fabricating hot rods and choppers, but Yanif's machines are some of the best in the business. Machines you might only invasion in your wildest dreams. Think the beautiful retro classic custom bikes of famed Japanese builders Shina Kimura and Zero Engineering, but finished to a higher degree. The beautiful craftsmanship that goes into each Powerplant Chopper, is quickly noticed and appreciated by both unenlightened passersby and experienced builders of talent.
"I actually built this Black & White bike for Scott back in 2006 with inspiration for the styling from the old boardtrack racers," explains Yaniv. "The Panhead powerplant I bought from an old San Francisco Hell's Angel. The frame I found on Ebay, and when it showed up at the shop, I found it was such junk I had to cut and replace much the tubing, redo the brackets and welds, stretch the neck - it might have been easier to builder a new frame from scratch. But this way it just looks right." "All the parts on the bike are 100% hand built at Powerplant using the highest qualityt new stock brass, stainless or aluminum, and old found objects that I've reworked back to life. The handle bars and exhaust pipes (mostlymade from stainless) are also some of the other extremely unique parts that Powerplant offers as mail order bolt-ons. Not to bore you to death with all kinds of shameless self promoting ." Yaniv smiles. It eventually took Yaniv some eight months to complete Scott's Blace and White Panhead, from start to finish, but you have to agree the wait was more than worth it! This is one of the most beautiful customs I've ever seen and would love to own, myself. Another of Yaniv's bikes, a 1970 based Shovelhead that's retro-styled like a 1938 Crocker, took Best of Show at the 2012 LA Calendar Motorcycle Show. Scott was gracious enough to let me photograph both these bikes for the next Iron & Lace Calendar, and share Scott's bike with you here in American Iron. Want your own unique Powerplant Chopper? Bikes start at $25,000. You be the judge on the budget, and let him know what you think and want. Then open up your wallet, so you can ride the baddest mother chopper in Tinseltown, and snare the finest groupies known to mankind. Just ask Scott and Yaniv.
